ECU Joondalup are back in league action on Saturday when they host Stirling Lions at the ECU arena (3pm)

A narrow defeat against Bunbury Forum Force last time out for ECU, but they bounced back to win in the cup 2-0 at Canning City on Wednesday, with goals from Tommy Jones and Tanner Selyer. Coach Salv Todaro is expecting a tough game against the Lions but has been pleased with the players’ attitude since he’s joined the club. “I was extremely disappointed with the result at Bunbury; however, I was very pleased with the attitude and the endeavour that the players put in,” said Todaro.

In team news Todaro has a full squad to choose from for the Lions clash, and he’s looking forward to the challenge. “It will be a tough game on Saturday against the Lions but the lads have been great and there never say die attitude is a good sign, and we hope to continue and work hard on the game plan and come away with the three points.”

An active recruitment campaign has given Stirling Lions’ supporters hope for a successful year. For his first full season in charge Doug Hesketh has turned to the transfer market to re-energise his side, bringing to Macedonia Park players of the calibre of former Manchester City player Jamie Tandy, Armadale trio Craig Robson, Paul Lloyd and Marlon Ramirez, Anthony Lyons, Matt and Andy Harold from Forrestfield, Adam Luca and Irish midfielder Gareth McGlynn.

The Lions arrive at the Arena after being thrashed 6-2 against Perth SC at home last week in the League, and coach Hesketh will be looking for a response from his players today.
