ECU Joondalup entertain Sorrento in a local derby in round four of the All Flags Premier League on Saturday (3pm)

It’s always a huge game when The Gulls arrive at The Arena, and Saturday’s game will be no different. New Coach Salv Todaro will be in charge for the first time and he knows he is in for a battle. “In games like this you can throw the form book away. It’s the team that wants it the most on the day that will triumph,” said Todaro.

“Sorrento will want to bounce back from last week’s result and we will want to continue the form that we showed last week at Bayswater. It should be an exciting game, and we hope to come away with the points.”

In team new for ECU, Todaro will again be missing John Higgins, but has a full squad to choose from. Tanner Selyer and Michael Adamcewicz are both settling into their new roles at the club, while Andy Banks, Dale McCulloch and Mark Tebbut have also been outstanding to date.

For his second season at the helm Sorrento coach Paul Price has made only a few minor adjustments to his squad, welcoming a few familiar faces back to the club and bringing in a couple of quality imports. Steve McDonald arrives back to The Gulls from Armadale, while James Morgan and Glen Thomas return from Western Knights.

Curtis Aspden, Ryan Pearson, Danny Cain and veteran Jamie Harnwell anchor a tight defensive unit, creative pair Thomas and Brodie Martin provide the link in the middle of the park, while on the flanks they have former ECU pair Jason Mirco and Daryl Platten. Up front Captain Todd Harnwell leads the way, with former Perth Glory Youth player Reece Vittiglia, and with this in mind many pundits have them in the top three.

But the Gulls are coming off a 1-5, home thrashing against Perth SC, last week and Coach Paul Price will be looking for a huge response this week, so we should be in for a cracking local derby.
