ECU Joondalup v Inglewood United – Preview

ECU Joondalup are at home to Inglewood United on Saturday in week 12 of the All Flags State Premier Division (3pm)

A draw against Armadale last week kept us in the relegation zone, but a fantastic second half performance left coach Salv Todaro disappointing not to take all three points. “We’re all extremely disappointed at not having come away with all three points last week as we had Armadale pegged back in their half for the whole of the 2nd half last week and they defended as their lives depended upon it and their keeper made a couple of decent saves,” he said.

This week the form team of the league, Inglewood, head to the arena and Todaro is expecting a tough game, but one he’s looking forward too. “Inglewood United are riding high at the moment in equal 2nd position on the ladder but we’re looking forward to the game. As a team and as individuals we continue to work hard and improve each week and we are determined to start to climb the league ladder,” Todaro said.

Graham Normanton and his assistant coach Bobby Despotovski have moulded a talented squad and are pushing for a top five finish. Francis Soale has been impressive in recent weeks between the sticks, while at the back Rikki Smith and Jack Clisby have formed a great partnership while James Sammut, Dannie Richman and David Perich run the midfield. Ryan Clarke and Alex Caniglia are the danger down the flanks, while up front Michael Baczynski and Aleks Jovic will need to be watched closely. United arrive at The Arena on a four game run without defeat and are coming off an impressive 1-1 draw at Perth last week.
