ECU Joondalup v Floreat Athena – Preview

It’s week two of the All Flags State Premier League on Saturday and ECU host Floreat Athena at The ECU Arena (3pm).

ECU began season 2012, with a 3-2 defeat at Inglewood United, but caretaker Coach Syd Amphlett was delighted with the performance. “It was a disappointing result for the boys last week but a tremendous performance by all involved. Two individual errors probably cost us the chance of taking any points away from the game,” said Amphlett.

“We began with four players making their debuts, one of which only signed on Friday but everyone stuck to their tasks and come very close to obtaining a result. There were several outstanding performances including Captain Dale McCulloch and Scott Blackmore and we hope more of the same today.”

On Saturday Michael Adamcewicz should have his International clearance and will make his debut, while Scott Bushby and Michael Currie should also be available on Saturday for the first time.

Floreat arrive at The Arena after a 0-2 home defeat against Perth SC last week, and have a completely different team to last season. Vincent Sweeney has arrived from the UK, while Bobby Wilson, Ludovic Boi and Spencer Harris, who’ve already struck a sound understanding with Mark Pritchard and Liam Boland. In goal Brad Eiffe and Kenny Ftynogiannis will be fighting it out for the Number one spot, while youngster Jack Allen also impressed last season.
