ECU Joondalup v Balcatta – Preview

Balcatta are the visitors to the ECU Arena in week 21 of the All Flags State Premier Division on Saturday (3pm).

It’s a vital game for both clubs and Coach Salv Todaro is looking forward to the clash against his former club. “It’s another big game for our club our visitors need to win to stay in with a chance of making the top 5 final play offs and we need to get a result to ensure we are still playing the state premier league next season,’ said Todaro.

“Over the last month or so our boys have been performing extremely well and playing some exceptional football. Our performance against Perth was close to our best performance of the year with all players contributing to a fantastic win.

“Special note to the free kick that Higgy scored for our fifth goal, if this goal had been scored in any league in the world it would definitely be a contender for Goal of the year and it would have been replayed over and over again. We must match that performance today and continue to improve as team as we have over the last 7-8 weeks.”

The coach has a full squad to choose from with John Thornley, David foster and Tanner Selyer recovering from injuries.

It’s been a good season to-date for Michael Roki’s Balcatta. A spot in the State Cup Final, and still pushing for a top five finish, although they need other results to go their way to make the end of season finals.

The Grindleford Reserve side finished top of the Premier League in just their second season in 2011, and skipper Adam Tong, Julian Madaschi, John Migas and Simon Elton-Bott underpin a tight defence.

In the middle of the park Paul Vatistas, David Micevski and Jason Barrera pull the strings. Daniel Micevski and Moe Atak give them width down the flanks, while Callum Roberts, Boima Karpeh and Ashley Rosindale head a lively attack.

They arrive at the Arena today after a 3-1 home loss against league leaders Bayswater City in the last league round, and a heart breaking 4-3 loss in the State Cup Final last week against Sorrento.
