Friday night football for ECU at Sorrento

ECU Joondalup travels to Percy Doyle Reserve tonight in a local derby against Sorrento in week nine of the All Flags Premier League (7pm)

Coach Syd Amphlett will be looking for a big game from his side to end a four game run without a win. “It’s a local derby we look forward to every year, where the form book goes out the window,” said Amphlett.

“It’s been no wins in four for us, but the lads continue to train well and if we continue to make the chances, same as last week, our luck will turn and the goals will flow.  I’ve been pleased defensively as we have tightened up, and the 3-0 result last week at Stirling was not a true reflection of the game. Let’s hope for a big crowd and great game tonight.”

In team news for ECU Scott Bushby, Matt Italiano and Ross Laing are unavailable, but skipper Dale McCulloch returns after serving a two match ban.

Only one point separates the two northern suburbs clubs, and Sorrento have picked up in the last month after a poor start. Experienced trio Curtis Aspden, Jamie and Todd Harnwell are all vital for Paul Price’s side, as they look to continue their push up the table, while David Foster and former ECU winger Jason Mirco will have to closely watched.
