ECU looks to checkmate Knights

ECU Joondalup take to the road this weekend when they take on Western Knights at Nash Field in round 19 of the All Flags Premier League (3pm)

It was a disappointing result last week for Syd Amphlett’s side but he couldn’t have asked for a more committed performance from his young chargers. “Yes I was disappointed with the result last week but it was not for the lack of effort and on another day we could have scored four, but their keeper was outstanding,” said Amphlett.

“It’s another big game looming on Saturday at the Knights, but ECU are looking forward to the challenge.”

In team news Charlie Comyn-Platt is back after suspension, the big defender played for Perth Glory last week in Bunbury,  but Scott Bushby serves a one match ban for four bookings, while Scott Blackmore who has just returned from the UK, was sent off after the reserve game for comments made to the official and now misses this game. Youngsters, Ryan Lowry, Luke Smith, Jon Stynes and Luke Johnson are all in the squad.

The Knights are coming off a 3-1 home loss against Stirling Lions last week, and they lose James Morgan due to suspension, but Carl Medica will look to new striker Johnny Mirco and Branimir Mikulic for the goals as the Knights look to consolidate third spot on the table.
