ECU Joondalup are back in action this weekend when they host the Football West National Training Centre at the Edith Cowen University Arena on Saturday (3pm)

With head Coach Syd Amphlett overseas, Andy Petterson will be in charge of the game and he’s looking for the side to continue where they left off against Floreat Athena two weeks ago. “We broke our scoring drought and our losing streak against Athena with a 3-2 win, and we hope to kick start our season starting on Saturday against a talented NTC side,” said Petterson.

“We’ve created chances in all our games this season but we haven’t been able to convert them, but the lads haven’t dropped their heads and training has been great and they will be looking to turn things around for the rest of the season.”

Petterson is taking the opportunity to look at some of the younger players in the senior side this week and he believes they will give a good account of themselves. “We will play keeper Brynn Hindley on Saturday, who has barely put a foot wrong in the reserves this season.  We also have young left back Lee Thompson and centre half Ryan Lowry, who has just got back from training with some big clubs in England. We are blessed at the club in having a fantastic academy set up and we’re now reaping the benefits.”

The NTC are yet to win this season, but are coming off an impressive display against Mandurah City last week, the youngsters losing 3-1.

Former Perth Glory assistant Coach Kenny Lowe is the head coach of the NTC, and with the talents of Sabit Oyet, Storm Roux, Chris Rizidis, Adam Taggart, Steven Walmsley, Sam Mitchinson, Josh Risdon and Reece Vittiglia in their side, they will give the home side a tough game.

Get along and watch ECU do battle with the state’s best talented youngster- it should be a cracker!!
