ECU Joondalup are back in league action this weekend, after the cup round last week, and they entertain last season’s All Flag’s Premier League Champions Perth SC in round 20 at The ECU Arena (3pm)

Syd Amphlett’s side is coming off two 0-2 defeat’s against Bayswater City and western Knights but injuries and suspensions have left the squad short of numbers, but the coach believes they will take the game to Perth and he is looking forward to the challenge. “As I have stated previously I use Perth as a benchmark for the league so we are expecting a tough game on Saturday,” said Amphlett.

“Having said that we always put up a good fight against them and we’ve always been there or there about, including a 5-4 defeat last season at the Arena. We know Saturday will be no exception, but we’re looking forward to the challenge, and desperately need full points, if we are to make the top five.”

In team news Mark Tebbut, Luke Smith and Scott Blackmore are all suspended and the weekly changes to the team does not help their cause, but skipper Dale McCulloch returns from suspension, along with Ryan McDarby, who is now free from injury.

New Perth coach Ronnie Campbell has tinkered a little with the squad he inherited, bringing in a few new faces and deploying some tactical changes. Shaun Kilkelly, Trent Kay and former ECU Craig Simpson provide solid defensive foundations, while Devon Spence continues to impress in goal. They will once again link to terrific effect with the likes of Antonio Naglieri, Matt Danskin, Dom De Felice and Andreas Oliviera, who’ll score his fair share of goals alongside David Onoforo.

Perth are currently in good form and currently sit on second spot on the table, and with both sides needing the points, it should be a great game, so get along and support the lads!!!!
