SUNDAY 21ST APRIL 2013 SORRENTO U10’s V ECU JOONDALUP U9’s

It was a perfect day for a game of football at Marri Reserve in Duncraig with cool temperatures and overcast skies. – Report by Derek Blackshaw.

The boys were again without Aston and Brayden who are still in Bali hopefully having a great time.

Fresh from a great performance last week the boys were put through their warm up by Stu and Neil and had an air of confidence about them!

The boys started with Ethan in goal, a back three of Eddie , Shade and Paddy , the midfield consisting of Matthew , Danny , Ryan and Aiki and Seb up front.

The game started at a frantic pace and with Sorrento making the first chance which was well stopped by Ethan . Then ECU began to use their passing game and started to create a few chances with Seb , Ryan and Danny all having shots well stopped by the big Sorrento keeper. The boys were not to be denied and broke the deadlock with Seb linking up with Matthew to fire home.(1-0)

The game then turned into a midfield battle for a while with the boys still trying to pass and move with Ryan and Aiki showing some nice touches in the middle.Shade again was a rock at the back!

Paddy was flying forward on lung bursting runs and took a sore one in a 50/50 challenge. That brought Sam on and he scored with a fine strike giving the keeper no chance. (2-0)

Then Danny got on the scoresheet with two great strikes the first, a left foot rocket into the top corner and the second a right foot low drive that squirmed under the keeper (4-0)

Just before half time Ryan got on the scoresheet skinning the defender before firing home with his right foot! (5-0)

The second half saw Shade go in nets and Ethan moved into midfield. Sorrento started brightly and ECU took a couple of minutes to settle and begin their passing game again. This was rewarded when a screamer of a shot by Danny smashed off the crossbar and the tireless Sam smashed home the rebound (6-0).

Aiki then scored a quick fire hat trick comprising of two tap-ins and a fine solo effort (9-0)

Sorrento began to lose their discipline and some rash tackles were flying in but were somehow missed by referee.

Danny then completed his hat trick with another tap-in after a fine save from a Sam strike. (10-0)

ECU were attacking at will now as the game wore on and Ethan went on a fine mazy run to set up Seb to fire home (11-0)

Eddie then got his name on the scoresheet with a fine strike that flew past the keeper at his near post. (12-0)

The final goal was scored by Ethan who slotted home coolly to complete a well deserved win. (13-0)

All in all another superb performance by the boys who at times played some great stuff and the outlook for the season looks very promising  – WELL DONE BOYS!
