ECU Joondalup  5-0  Inglewood Utd – Sunday 28th April – Premier League

Inglewood came into this match as league leaders due to a thrashing over Mandurah the week before but the quality of this weeks opposition was of a far higher standard. The game started brightly with both sides creating half chances in the opening 4 minutes. A couple of minutes later the home side were in front, from a Tom Eigenhuijsen pass, Harley Curran curled in a wonderful finish from the edge of the area to make it 1-0.

ECU were enjoying most of the possession but Inglewood had pace and were looking dangerous on the break, in fact they had a 10 minute period where they looked the more likely team to score. Despite this, ECU increased their lead on 22 minutes, Harley played a through ball to Kieron Craig, who finished well.

It was soon 3-0 as Harley finished after a good team build up and a neat passage of play. The half time score line of 3-0 was harsh on the visitors who had looked dangerous but could not convert their half chances, of which they had many. – Half Time – ECU Joondalup  3-0  Inglewood Utd

ECU had more control of the match in the second half and visitors threatened less. Numerous chances were created and missed, until finally one was taken when Luke was on the end of a Kieron pass to make it 4-0.

Within minutes it was 5-0, ECU played the ball out from the back and some good passing between Oliver Ford and Harley produced a chance for Luke and he scored his second of the match with a great strike. He then fired over and hit the post as he went in search of his hat trick but the score line stayed at 5-0 to the hosts. – Full Time – ECU Joondalup  5-0  Inglewood Utd

A good solid performance against a decent side who were quick on the break. A good result considering it is only next week that the side is back to full strength, for the first time this season, with 3 players returning for the cup game away to Wembley on Saturday 4th May and the premier league clash away to Balcatta the next day, Sunday (5th).
