ECU Joondalup  2-0  Bunbury – Cup Quarter Finals – Sat 6th July

(Photo – Tyler Uglow in action) – ECU under 13’s progressed through to the semi finals of the state cup competition with a 2-0 victory that was probably harder work than they expected or should have been. Bunbury were top of division one and came into this game with confidence and were well organised and defended very well. The hosts started quickly with Liam Owen and Luke Salmon both shooting wide in the opening minutes. It was 1-0 after 12 minutes, Liam Hudson produced an inviting cross for Brad Jordan, to time his run and finish from close range. Bunbury had some pace on the break and threatened a couple of times but it was the home side who came closest to scoring when left back Louie Robinson went on a mazy dribble and crashed a shot against the cross bar.

The second half had a similar pattern as the first, ECU having most of the possession and chances and Bunbury defending well and looking dangerous on the break. Liam O set up Oliver Ford, whose low shot was well saved by the goalkeeper and then Ethan Kerridge made it 2-0 with a superb long range strike over the visitors goal keeper. James Lawless then had a shot saved and ECU played out the match to record a comfortable win.
