Sorrento 1-2 ECU Joondalup – Sunday 8th September

ECU under 13’s defeated local rivals Sorrento in a match with not too many highlights to report. The visitors settled well and had all the early possession and created some openings, Brad Jordan delivered a superb cross from the left which Kieron Craig just failed to get on the end of. On 23 minutes, ECU were in front, an excellent cross by Kieron C was converted brilliantly by Luke Salmon. It was very nearly two just after, Oliver Ford laid the ball into Harley Curran’s path and his low shot hit the post, the rebound falling to Kieron C, whose shot then crashed against the bar.

Half Time – Sorrento 0-1 ECU Joondalup

Within 5 minutes of the restart, ECU were awarded a penalty when Harley C was fouled and up stepped Ethan Kerridge to score to make it 2-0 to the visitors. The second half was disappointing, ECU’s football lacked any cohesion and shape and Sorrento were just reliant on breakaways. The home side hit the post from a free kick and then minutes later, scored from a free kick in almost an identical position. There were no further scares and ECU hung on to record a good victory.
