Sunday 5th April – Premier League – Balcatta  1-3  ECU Joondalup

Photo – Harley Curran gets a tackle in – ECU Joondalup under 13’s continued their good form with their third consecutive victory with a good away win against a capable Balcatta team. The first half was quite even, ECU having slightly more of the possession but the home side looking fast and dangerous on the break. After 10 minutes, the visitors were ahead when Luke Salmon squared a good pass across the penalty area for Kieron Craig to finish well into the corner. Both sides had half chances and the half time lead was maybe flattering to the away team.

Half Time – Balcatta  0-1  ECU Joondalup

ECU seemed to have a better balance after the break and scored within seconds of the restart. Oliver Ford found Harley Curran whose through ball inside the full back was perfect for Liam Hudson, who struck a superb low drive to make it 0-2. Within a couple of minutes it was three, from a Tom Eijgenhuijsen pass, Luke Salmon scored confidently and there was no way back for Balcatta.

ECU were well in control and played some nice football and created a number of chances. From a breakaway though, the home team were awarded a penalty when Ethan Kerridge was adjudged to have fouled a Balcatta forward. ECU keeper, Ed Cook made an outstanding save from the resulting spot kick only for Balcatta to scramble home the rebound. Liam Hudson hit the bar late on but ECU ran out comfortable winners.

A good away win against a good side with some very good individuals who will defeat many teams this season. ECU look to host Bayswater on Sunday 12th, both sides on nine points from four games.
