Sunday 27th May – Junior League 12 Premier – Vic Park Rovers  1-4  ECU
After tasting defeat the previous week in their first game in the premier division, ECU under 12’s defeated Vic Park Rovers at Raphael Park. The away team had a couple of early strikes from long distance, which came to nothing, whilst the home team were awarded a series of free kicks which put the ECU’s defence under some early pressure. ECU’s first real chance came after 10 minutes when Harley Curran played in Liam Hudson on the wing only for the winger to fire across the face of the goal. Within a couple of minutes, ECU were ahead when Liam was fouled inside the box and up stepped sweeper, Liam Owen to smash the visitors ahead. ECU continued to create good opportunities, a series of crosses were not taken advantage of. As in the previous week, missed chances came back to haunt them as Vic Park broke away and equalised from a corner.

Two minutes later, Harley won possession, passed to Oliver Ford who played in Liam Hudson whose finish was empathic, low into the corner to give the away team a deserved half time lead.

Half Time – Vic Park Rovers  1-2  ECU

ECU had more possession and general control of the game in the second half but, again, it was their inability to take the many chances they created to kill off the opposition who looked dangerous on the break on a couple of occasions. James Lawless spurned two good chances, Harley Curran had a couple of strikes from distance, Declan Hudson was denied by a couple of last ditch challenges and Tom Eijgenhuijsen hit the post from a corner. Finally ECU went further ahead when Liam Hudson hit the bar and Brad Jordan volleyed in the rebound superbly to make it 3-1. Shortly after, a great through ball by midfielder Oliver Ford was cooly finished by Kieron Craig.

Overall the right result, the team are creating heaps of chances but need to be more clinical, especially with tougher matches to come.
