Sunday 9th September – ECU  2-0  Westside

ECU under 12’s booked their place in the top 4 play offs with a comfortable 2-0 victory against local rivals Westside at ECU stadium. Playing with confidence after eight successive premier league wins, the home side settled quickly and were playing some lovely football whilst keeping their shape and balance. Declan Hudson had a low shot saved early on by the impressive Westside keeper and Harley Curran and Luke Salmon also had good chances to open the scoring but the chances went begging. After 15 minutes, ECU took the lead after a fine run down the right by Liam Hudson (a constant threat in the first half) and cross which was converted (with the aid of a slight deflection) quite brilliantly by Luke. Minutes later the home side were awarded a penalty when Liam was fouled but Harley’s strike was saved well, low down by the visiting goalkeeper.

Half Time – ECU  1-0  Westside

Shortly after the re start, a great through ball by Harley found Liam in the inside right position and his finish into the roof of the net was emphatic to make the score 2-0. The second half was not so cohesive with ECU losing some of their shape but they still created a few chances. Brad Jordan headed wide from a Louis Robinson cross, Liam Owen and Harley both went close from long distance whilst Westside threatened on the break and generally played better in the second half without really creating many chances.

Full Time – ECU  2-0  Westside
