Sunday 17th June – ECU  1-0  Rockingham ECU under 12’s secured an important three points with narrow 1-0 victory over a big and sometimes over physical Rockingham City at home. The visitors were settled in the top 4 play off places having had a good season to date but it was the home side who started on the front foot. A series of raids down the flanks by Declan and Liam Hudson produced a few opportunities and a few goal mouth scrambles. After 15 minutes the home side were awarded a free kick about 25 metres out after yet another foul on an ECU player. Up stepped Ethan Kerridge to fire home from long range over the keepers head. Most of the play was spent in the visitors half but the home side could not add to their single goal advantage.

Half time – ECU  1-0  Rockingham

The second half was a much more even affair, ECU seemed to struggle to get their passing game together and the away team grew in confidence and they were giving the home team some problems on the break. ECU missed a couple of opportunities to extend their lead and they came under increasing pressure. Goalkeeper, Ed Cook handled some threatening long range shots well and in the centre of defence, Ethan and Liam Owen were outstanding. The team worked very hard stemming the Rockingham tide, and after a couple of goal mouth scrambles and two brilliant last ditched tackles by Tyler Uglow, the boys held on to record a deserved but very hard fought victory.

Full Time – ECU  1-0  Rockingham

A crucial three points as the boys aim to climb the table as they have played four games less than the other teams in the division. Next week, they are away to Inglewood United, another tough looking game where they will have to work hard to take all the points.
