Sunday 8th July – East Fremantle  1-6  ECU

ECU under 12’s continued their climb up the premier division ladder with comfortable win against East Fremantle at Bruce Lee Oval. The small pitch with a difficult surface caused few demons for the away team who asserted themselves immediately and had the majority of possession in the first half and created numerous chances. After 10 minutes their football reaped it’s rewards with the first goal, Kieron Craig drifting inside from the left wing to strike superbly over the home goalkeeper. Soon it was 2-0 when Liam Owen crossed from the right and, new boy, Luke Salmon finished confidently. It was one way traffic now and from a James Lawless cross, also from the right, Kieron scored his second of the match and the teams third.

Half Time – East Fremantle  0-3  ECU

The start to the second half was quiet for both teams, East Freo slightly raised their game but ECU lacking the control and passing that had served them well the the first half. Eventually, Oliver Ford and Tom Eijgenhuijsen resumed their control of the centre midfield and ECU looked dangerous again down the flanks with James and Declan Hudson managing to get in behind the home defence. Harley Curran made it 4-0 to the visitors with a neat finish and then, from a Kieron pass, Luke scored his second to make it 5-0.

A lapse in concentration by the away defence then let in East Freo to pull one back on the breakaway but almost immediately, Luke completed his hat trick in his first appearance to make the score 6-1. He then nearly scored his fourth as he fired just over and the final score was a fair reflection of ECU’s dominance.

Full Time – East Fremantle  1-6  ECU

Another good league result as the boys aim to reach the top four play off positions and they have a break from the league next week (15th July) as they take on first division Stirling Lions in the quarter final of the cup competition.
