ECU Joondalup Under 9s 6 – 1 Subiaco Under 10s

Needless to say, another fine performance by the ECU Under 9s as they record their 14th win in 14 league games. Joe, Matthew, Ben and Euan looked solid and composed in defence. The midfield controlled the game with Lewis in imperious and commanding form in midfield, well supported by Blair and Regan who both showed good movement and composure. The attack as ever were a threat for the entire match with Harry in predatory form in the centre and fine wing play on the left from Massimo and on the right from Reece.

Harry opened the scoring after a great pass from Lewis. Lewis himself scored the second after dispossessing a Subiaco defender and powering the ball into the net. Neat build up play followed between Reece and Harry to set up Lewis for his second. 3-0. Reece then set up Harry for his second and the team’s 4th. On occasion the team had to defend and Joe in particular was having a great game on the right side of defence. Just before the break Reece showed good skill, went past his man and set up Blair whose fine effort went just wide. Half time 4-0.

Early in the second half a fine combination between Regan, Harry and Reece set Massimo up on the left and he calmly slotted the ball past the Subi keeper 5-0. The forwards continued to look threatening and further chances fell to Regan who unluckily hit the post and Blair who forced a fine save from the keeper. ECU were in total control and perhaps a touch of complacency crept into their play as a rapid Subiaco move caught the defence off guard and the visitors made it 5-1. Normal service was resumed as Lewis hit an unstoppable shot into the net. 6- 1. HAT TRICK TO LEWIS. There was just enough time for 2 more long range efforts – a 30 yard pile-driver from Lewis that went just wide and a looping shot from Joe that again sailed just past the post. The scoreline fairly reflected ECUs superiority and the team marches on. One question remains. What did Lewis have for breakfast ?
