COCKBURN 1 v ECU 13’s 7 – 22 April 2012

A goal from Ryan C started the game in the 3rd minute from a pass by Brent.

Ayden passed to Dec a few minutes later for goal number 2. The boys were playing quick and fast football and it seemed that Cockburn had good shape today. Good play from Joe to Sam P then to Ryan C who then scored with a header – goal 3!

In this first half the goals kept coming with Brent scoring from a pass by Luke in the 17th minute. Fitzy played well on the left and Ryan B out on the right. Any ball that did get past the half way line didn’t get through the fantastic defending from Stef, Matteo and Nic. Twenty minutes into the first half and Kyle touched the ball!! Having said that, Cockburn, put in a great effort to keep up with ECU’s play. Sam P scored goal number 5 and the defenders were called upon a few more times before the Sam P hit the post shooting for another goal and Joe’s shot was saved by the keeper. A good shot and a good save.

At half time whistle – ECU 5 Cockburn 0

Cockburn came back on with their heads up and the second half started with two good saves from Kyle within a few minutes. Then the ball was back up in Cockburn’s half – Luke’s shot was saved but then a cross from Brent enabled Ryan C to score another header. Cockburn defended well and had come back into the second half strong but there was soon to be a goal from Ayden. ‘

Cockburn were awarded a free kick but ECU’s wall put a stop to any goal but they weren’t giving up and were soon rewarded with a well deserved goal. After two more free kicks in favour of ECU, there were to be no more goals and none for Cockburn as James and the back line defended well.

Final Score : ECU 7 – Cockburn 1
