ECU Outclass Whitfords at Home

The boys played some great football all over the park and finished up 11-1 winners. It was a great team performance with Whitfords unable to match the superior passing of ECU.   The first half was a dominant ECU display with strong defence, intelligent passing through the midfield, superb options down both wings and excellent finishing.   Ollie scored the opening goal after the keeper saved a header from Morgan 1-0.

There was no let up for Whitfords as ECU win corner after corner. Josh is next to score as he gets on the end of one of Trent’s corners and slots it home 2-0. More of the same with Whitfords unable to pick up Josh and he makes it 3-0 from the next corner.   Trent, Ciaran and Ollie all have chances but narrowly miss. Up steps Morgan and scores a great goal. After getting the ball in midfield he beats a defender and puts the ball beyond the keeper into the corner. Fantastic 4-0.

The boys were passing the ball around and Whitfords were unable to get out of their own half. Ollie and Ciaran had shots go just wide. Reid was called into action as Whitfords moved the ball quickly into attack. He makes a great save from a volley. Josh, Morgan and Jack combine well through the middle. Dylan and Ciaran both have close efforts before Ollie grabs another 5-0.

As the half comes to a finish Ben hits the bar and Kian has a long range bomb saved.  From the restart Ben and Ollie carry on tormenting the Whitfords full backs and it’s not long before Ollie scores to get his hat trick. Well done 6-0.   ECU retain the ball well and the boys are cueing up to get on the score board. Ben is next to score when he reacts first at a corner and fires the ball into the top corner 7-0.

Jack has a shot and go just over and the keeper saves shots from Ben and Dylan. Dylan scores as the keeper pushes the the ball into his path and he makes no mistake 8-0.   The next goal is a great team goal with Trent, Kian, Evan and Dylan moving the ball quickly up to Ben who smashes the ball past the keeper 9-0. Trent mesmerizes his opponents, teammates and coach with a 40 meter solo run but finishes well and its 10-1.

Evan comes on in midfield and carries on the good work by Morgan. He moves the ball around and has a couple of shots saved. With Whitfords getting a goal back ECU push forward and when the keeper saves a shot from Evan, Dylan is first to get to the ball and make it 11-1.   A first class performance from all the boys who showed how well they can pass the ball and create goal scoring opportunities.
