ECU (under 9’s) 5 vs Carramar Cougars (Under 10’s) 1

ECU under 9’s continued their table topping form with a convincing win over Carramar Cougars.

The game started with ECU putting on the early pressure, the defence of Lewis and Euan standing strong against any attack. Suddenly ECU got caught on the break by a ball over the top going 1-0 behind to the Cougars.

This spurred ECU on with Matthew pushing the play up out of defence. ECU continued to drive on with some great work from Massimo on the wing swinging over a great cross for Harry to force a double saved from the Cougars “on form” keeper.

The resulting corner crossed in by Massimo and was beautifully nodded in by Harry for a well deserved equalizer for ECU. The boys now had the bit between their teeth with Harry picking the ball up in midfield, jinking past two defenders and calmly slotting the ball home to give ECU the lead.

ECU stood firm for the rest of the half with Lewis, Ben and Matthew clearing up anything Carramar Cougars could throw at them.

The second half started with ECU putting on the pressure again with Massimo threading through a great ball to Harry only to see his ferocious drive parried away and the on rushing Daniel just couldn’t convert the rebound.

The ECU midfield battled hard with both Regan and Joe playing through balls to Harry but he is denied by the keeper. The busy keeper then saved shots from Regan and Joe before a great ball from Ben saw Daniel slide the ball into the net for 3-1. ECU then attacked again and a lovely cross from Lewis, with Daniel cushioning the ball over the goalies head for number 4.

ECU then pushed for a fifth with Lewis, Reece and Joe all having shots saved. Then after a great last ditch tackle from Lewis and some great work through midfield between Reece and Regan, Daniel calmly slipped the ball past the keeper.
