Wembley Downs 0 ECU Joondalup 4

The 11s took to the field with a different line up but it was business as usual. The visiting team had no answers to the on form ECU. As in previous weeks a strong defence set the platform for a comfortable 4-0 victory.

Ciaran, Trent and Morgan started in defence and had big shoes to fill but managed to keep the Wembley Downs attackers at bay. The midfield pairing of Jack and Ben kept the ball moving and also helped out the back three. Jack and Charlie both had early chances go wide. The boys had most of the early possession and Ben was next to shoot just wide. After a defensive mix up Charlie is first to the ball and makes no mistake 1-0. Ciaran and Ollie make some great runs down the left and right. Ben finds Ciaran unmarked and he places the ball in bottom corner 2-0.

Morgan and Trent both make some great tackles to keep Wembley Downs from scoring. Dylan has a shot saved by the keeper and Jack is just wide with  a headed attempt. The boys kept the ball for long periods and played great football to finish the half 2-0.

The second half sees Kian and Josh join the defence. Wembley start strongly and put pressure on the ECU goal but Ciaran wins the ball just inside his half. He reacts quickly passing the ball to Charlie but the keeper is off his line and saves. Morgan and Evan have shots go over. ECU win a corner and it’s quickly taken by Kian who finds Trent. His shot is dropped by the keeper and Charlie beats everyone to the ball 3-0.

It’s all ECU now with Dylan causing lots of trouble for his opponent. The Wembley Downs keeper is busy stopping the score getting out of control. Dylan, Kian, Trent, Jack and Ben all have shots on target but the keeper makes some good saves. The last goal of the game is the best with a great move starting with Trent at the back. He passes the ball to Kian who finds Morgan in the middle, he puts it out wide to Dylan who crosses the ball to Evan. His shot is smashed into the top corner. Great finish to a great team goal. 4-0.

The performance by the boys was fantastic. They never let Wembley into the game and once again moved the ball around and made the opposition work hard off the ball. Even with some players trying new positions the boys were far to strong and deserved the 4-0 score.
