Under 12’s Junior Cup Competition Quarter Final
ECU 3-0  Stirling Lions – Monday 23rd July

As the heading says, despite the win and a passage through to the cup semi finals, ECU’s under 12’s failed to scale the heights they achieved the day before when defeating league leaders Westside. ECU applied all the early pressure in a match that was largely played in a rain storm. The home team created a number of openings and went in front on 10 minutes when James Lawless found Liam Hudson on the right with a nice pass, the winger supplying a good cross which Harley Curran volleyed home. It was soon 2-0 when Harley steadied himself just inside the penalty area, looked up, picked his spot and coolly side footed the ball into the corner. Chances were being created at will now, James put Liam through to fired wide, Bradley Jordan had a shot saved and Kieron Craig went close. The pressure was rewarded with a third goal, a cross by Lewis Robinson was flicked on by Harley for James to poke the ball home.

Half time  –  ECU  3-0  Stirling Lions

ECU started the second half slowly and never really got going, numerous openings were created and missed but the game became quite scrappy and Stirling forced a couple of chances on the break. ECU also seemed to lose their shape which was such an important factor in their victory the day before. Overall though, any win in the cup is a good win and they now join Sorrento, Perth and Fremantle in the last four with the draw to be made soon. The semi finals will take place on Sunday 12th August.
