ECU  2-0  Whitford City – Wednesday 18th April 2012

ECU overcame a good Whitford City team to progress into the next round of the under 12’s cup competition. Both sides got off to a slow start with possession shared but no real chances created. After 10 minutes, the home side went ahead when Harley Curran received the ball, a full 25 yards from goal, turned and struck a superb shot into the corner. This seemed to settle the home side who then started to play the kind of football that was lacking in the early stages of the game. From a Whitfords corner, the home team played their way out of trouble and a superb move involving Oliver Ford and Liam Hudson resulted in Liam’s cross being headed in by James Lawless.

Half Time – ECU  2-0  Whitford City

ECU mainly dominated the second half and created numerous chances but found the third goal illusive and so failed to make the game safe. When the away team did break, ECU’s goalkeeper, Eddie Cook was up to the task and his handling was assured in very wet and difficult conditions. The boys will be pleased to progress into the next round.
