Floreat 1-6  ECU – Sunday 24th July

ECU under 11’s continued their winning ways with a comfortable 6-1 victory over lowly Floreat. The away team got off to the perfect start, scoring after 3 minutes when a corner was only half cleared to Harley Curran, who laid the ball back to Ethan Kerridge, who fired home to make it 1-0 to the away team. Within 2 minutes, it was 2-0, Harley with an excellent through ball to James Lawless who finished superbly into the roof of the net, quite rightly the referee ignoring the incorrect linesman’s flag.

After 13 minutes it was 3-0 and the away team were fully on top and playing some nice football. A poor goal kick was intercepted by James who returned the favour to Harley, who neatly finished. Even though the home team were much bigger and more physical, they could not get a hold in the game and it was no surprise when Luke Antonio headed home from close range to make it 4-0.

Shortly before half time, the away defence was caught flat footed, Floreat broke away and their centre forward finished well, although Kyle McDonald managed to get a hand on the ball, it still had enough pace to go over the line.

Half Time    Floreat  1-4  ECU

The second half was a much scrappier affair, probably because of the enforced changes that were made, Floreat certainly had more of the ball and held their own.

Thanks to two goals from Kieran Craig, ECU extended their lead, firstly, Harry Wilson got into the box and crossed and from the ensuing scramble, Kieran poked home and then, soon after, he was on the end of a Harley through ball to make it 6-1.

To be fair to the home side, they created a couple of good chances which were close but the score stayed at 6-1 and another deserved win for the under 11’s.
