Round 16- Sunday 11th September – Ballajura 5   5 ECU

A cracking game unfolded at the Kingfisher Oval in a match that had everything. It was to be a rollercoaster for both teams. A game of two halves. ECU dominating the first period, Ballajura the second.

ECU were first out of the blocks, with Kian, Ollie, Morgan and Lennon all linking up to give Charlie an early chance. Ciaran then dragged 2 chances wide of the left goal post as ECU pushed for an opener.

Kade’s clearance sent Ollie clear on the left. Ollie and Ciaran combined to feed Charlie whose shot on the turn nestled in to the bottom left hand corner of the net for ECU’s first.A minute later, Charlie’s deep corner was met on the volley by Morgan who had taken up a good position outside of the area to fire home their second.

Evan’s coolness under pressure was again on display at centre back.

Ben, Ollie, Ciaran and Charlie all showed great first touches during the first half as Charlie extended ECU’s lead on 11 minutes with another fine strike on the turn from distance, again finding the bottom left hand corner of the net.

On 12 minutes Lennon’s driven shot was deflected to Kian whose lofted shot from 15 yards flew past the Ballajura keeper for ECU’s third.

Ollie went close with a left foot shot, after another superb ball from Lennon.

A change on 15 minutes with Etienne and Aaron coming on for Ollie and Evan.

On 17 minutes Kian’s pass found Charlie in the middle of Ballajura’s half. He only needed one step before firing home an absolute screamer over the Ballajura keeper for his hat trick and ECU’s fifth.

Etienne went close with a good effort after breaking down the left hand side in the final minutes of the first half.

Ballajura pulled a goal back with the last move of the half.

Ballajura started the second half well and put ECU under a lot of pressure.Evan was called into action with several important clearances at the back.

Etienne had a good effort wide of the goals in the 30th minute.

Ballajura scored a second despite a good initial save from Kian. There third followed shortly after.

Ollie on the right was a highlight for ECU in the second period. Tenacious tackling back and showing great support for his forwards. His endeavours almost rewarded in the 37th minute. A fantastic dribble and shot across the goal mouth deserved a better outcome.

Aaron had two efforts go close before, Ballajura scored their fourth.

Ballajura’s tail’s were up as the game entered the final 5 minutes.

Kade had a rasping shot from 20 yards go wide for ECU.

Ballajura scored their fifth with the last move of the game.
