OSSF 11 North Green – Round 8- Sunday 26th June:

Wanneroo City SC 1   6 ECU

ECU under 10’s continued their good form with a convincing Round 8 win over Wanneroo City at Kingsway.

A Wanneroo attack in the 1st minute was broken up by Morgan’s brave headed clearance- one of many by Morgan in a pulsating first half.

Early ECU chances fell to Etienne, Charlie and Kian, but it was Ben who broke the deadlock with a powerful strike from 15yds in the 5th minute.

Wanneroo equalised on 7 minutes.

ECU’s passing game frustrated Wanneroo, in all areas of the pitch.

On 9 minutes Trent broke down the right wing before cutting in towards goal and unleashing a thunderbolt which flew past the Wanneroo keeper at the near post to send ECU  2 – 1 up.

Defensively Evan, Kian and Harry competed for everything thrown at them in the first half winning most of the 50/50 tackles and even more of the 60/40 contests.

A change at 14 minutes brought Aaron and Oliver on. Oliver’s silky skills on the right hand side of midfield baffled his opponents. On 20 minutes his cross into the area almost found Etienne sliding in at the back post.

Kade was distributing the ball well from the goal area, with Aaron and Harry always providing a passing option in wide positions.

A flowing move down the left hand side involving Aaron, Charlie and Ben resulted in Etienne calmly slotting the ball past the keeper for a well deserved goal.

HT: Wanneroo City SC 1   3 ECU

Oliver switched to the left hand side of midfield and set the tone for the second half with a shot just over the bar within 10 seconds. Great close control a minute later allowed Oliver another shot on goal.

Trent and Ciaran had good efforts blocked before Morgan struck with 2 goals in 2 minutes.

Morgan’s first, a great strike from outside the area proved too hot for the Wanneroo keeper. Lennon’s strong tackle a minute later allowing Morgan another shooting opportunity and he didn’t disappoint, firing in ECU’s 5th.

Charlie and Harry came on 10 minutes into the second half. Charlie having an immediate impact, setting up Trent whose first time volley cannoned off the cross bar. Oliver’s follow up going just over the bar.

Lennon, Ciaran and Charlie continued to press the Wanneroo defence.

On 40 minutes a touch of class from Harry, making a fine interception in midfield before playing a delightful ball with the outside of his right foot to Lennon. Lennon’s shot going just wide of the right hand post.

Trent was having another huge game on the right hand side of midfield, setting up Ciaran who’s first time shot went wide of the post.

The ball was eagerly retrieved by Morgan’s dad who had worked tirelessly throughout the second half behind the Wanneroo goal.(although the pace of the game started to show on him in the last 10 min!).

Charlie’s accurate corner kicks were being driven in at pace. Trent went close with a near post header before wrapping up proceedings with a contender for” goal of the season”. Oliver checking his run on the left wing to find Trent 10yds out from goal. Trent’s spectacular bicycle kick finding the roof of the net.

A well refereed game by the fourth official was brought to an end a minute later.

Well Played Boys.

Congratulations to Lennon and Ciaran for their guest appearance in the Under 11 Team against Sorrento earlier in the day.
