Round 6- Sunday 12th June 2011: – Subiaco 2   2 ECU

ECU under 10’s welcomed back Lennon Crane from international duties for their round 6 game against Subiaco. Lennon took the goalkeepers jersey for the 1st half behind the defensive line of Harry, Aaron and Kian.

With a strong wind at their backs, Subiaco pressed from the opening whistle and took the lead with a 5th minute goal.

ECU managed to break out after 10 minutes, Morgan picking out Charlie with a fantastic ball but Charlie couldn’t quite get enough power on an attempted chip and the keeper recovered to collect.

It wasn’t long before the equaliser came; Oliver supplied Charlie who made no mistake with a shot going in off the post.

After weathering an early storm, ECU enjoyed more possession as the half progressed. Shooting opportunities fell to Kian and Charlie but they couldn’t find the target.

Subiaco took the lead 6 minutes before the break. Lennon managed to get his finger tips onto a fierce shot, but was unable to stop the goal.

Within a minute ECU were level. Trent delivering a pin point cross to Ciaran at the front post. His glancing header was parried by the goal keeper before crossing the line.

Further chances for ECU rounded off an even first half. Kian going close with a header at the back post from Charlie’s corner.

Ciaran swapped with Lennon in goals and Etienne took over on the right side of midfield for the start of the second half.

A shot on goal from Morgan within a minute signalled ECU’s intent.

Camped inside Subiaco’s half, ECU enjoyed the majority of play. Lennon, Charlie and Morgan were combining well.

Trent’s long range effort from 20yrds just missing the left hand upright on 29 minutes.

Ben on the right side of midfield was at the forefront of three outstanding passages of play within a three minute spell. He found Lennon on 37 minutes whose deft first touch and defence splitting ball set up Charlie whose shot was gathered by the keeper.

ECU continued to create chances. Charlie’s header going wide from Trent’s cross before Morgan and Trent going close with fine strikes from distance.

Defensively ECU was solid, with some outstanding individual displays from the players.

On 44 minutes one final effort from Etienne, with a superb shot going agonisingly over the bar.
