Round 9-OSSF 11 North Green – ECU 5   1 Inglewood – report by Graeme Bramwell

Round 9 brought Inglewood to the University. Harry in goal for the 1st half pulled off a finger tip save in the first minute to deny the away team.

Although ECU enjoyed the majority of possession it was Inglewood who took the lead in the 7th minute.

Unfazed by this early set back ECU maintained their patient build- up play.

Trent and Ben went close with good efforts before Charlie’s great strike on 12 minutes was parried by the Inglewood keeper, Ciaran reacting quickly to drive the ball home.

Morgan and Kian came on after 14 minutes and were straight into the action.Kian’s strong challenge on the left hand side of midfield and his driven front post cross was met by Ciaran who slotted the ball underneath the keeper for ECU’s second.

Evan was having another outstanding game at centre back, with good support from Lennon and Aaron.

ECU wouldn’t allow Inglewood out of their half.The last 5 minutes of the first period produced a number of chances. Kian, Lennon and Morgan all going close.

Aaron took over between the posts for the second half and rarely looked troubled.

ECU continued to play good football.Lennon and Kian linking up on the left hand side with Lennon putting a fantastic cross to the back post, just failing to find an ECU player.

Within 2 minutes of the restart ECU increased their lead.Harry and Trent with a short corner. Trent’s powerful shot couldn’t be gathered by the keeper and Charlie was a hand to stroke the ball home.

Inglewood tried to get back into the game, but good defensive work from Harry , Evan and Lennon eased the pressure.

A flowing move on 30 minutes between Harry, Trent and Charlie resulted in a deep cross to Kian at the back post. Kian’s attempt going wide of the post.

Kian again  went close 4 minutes later with a 20 yard effort  just passing the upright.

The pressure was building. Oliver’s sublime ball to Morgan on the edge of the box was met with a spectacular scissor kick , which just cleared the bar.

Oliver went closer a minute later with a fantastic shot from the right wing which rebounded off the cross bar for a goal kick.

A sweeping move on 45 minutes between Oliver, Harry and Ben. Harry’s clinical finish giving ECU a 4-1 lead.

ECU finished the half as they had started, with a patient build up from the back. Charlie, Kian and Trent breaking down the left wing. Trent’s back post cross was met by Harry who out jumped the defence.Harry’s bullet header came off the post to Ben who made no mistake with a right foot shot inside the far post for ECU’s fifth.
