ECU under 12’s have won the 2011 Concrete Alliance Cup.
They entered the competition as favorites this year and they made a slow start with a 3-1 win against East Freemantle, but soon got into their stride with strong wins against Quinn’s 8-0, Fremantle United 9-0 and Inglewood 4-0 which left them top of their group.
In the quarter finals the boys came up against East Fremantle again but this time with a more convincing 8-1 win. This took the team to the semi-finals playing against Inglewood with one way traffic the whole game for ECU, but ECU struggled to break the Inglewood defence and came away with a narrow 1-0 win from a direct converted corner kick.
In the final against Perth SC, ECU started on fire and could have been two nil up in the first five minutes they continued to pressure the defence of Perth SC and got a very well played out header goal from a right cross in the first half. In the second half Perth had nothing to answer to the onslaught and the ECU boys got three more in to the back of the net.
As this was the third consecutive year the tournament has been won by an ECU team, the trophy is going to remain in the ECU trophy collection. ECU players also walked away with awards – Top goal scorer was Luke Rhodes and fairest and best was Sam Pollard.
